south Indian cuisine is all time favorate in India…. kid’s love this and old people really relish it well
light for digestion and yummm in taste
Tuar dal / Yellow pigeon peas………………1 cup
Salt ………..as per taste
For tadka ”tempering”:-
Oil……….2tbsp, red whole chilly…..2, rai…….1/2 tsp, kari patta / curry leaves- 3 to4
Red chilly-1tsp , *sambher masala-2tsp, asafetida / hing -1/4 tsp
Wash tuar dal properly in water ,cook in pressure cooker with salt and turmeric powder till done and keep aside
In a pan heat oil add all tadka ingredients in it stir till crackle ,now add chopped onion in it cook till light golden in color ,add tomato puree and all the masalas roast till oil separate add vegetables and mix well ,add little water and cover with lid cook till vege turn little soft now add cooked dal in it and mix well , add tamarind paste and water as required serve hot with idli , dosa and vada….
* sambher masala is easily available in Indian stores. you can make it at home also.
Note :- I add little coconut and jaggery also it enhanced the taste of sambher
