Dahi ladoo parshad- special parshad recipe for dussehra

In India, we celebrate Dussehra with a full pomp-n-show. Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami. It is a major festival celebrated at the end of Navratri every year. It is a celebration of the victory of good over evil.

My Army Diary:

Being an army officer’s wife, I get the opportunity to observe many different cultures around the country and Dussehra is by far one of the most widely and variably celebrated festivals.

North India has various colourful fairs organised on this occasion. Plays based on the Hindu mythology of Ramayan, known as Ramleela are performed. On the day of Vijaydashmi, huge effigies of Ravan, Meghnad and Kumbhakarn are also set on fire.

Whereas, in places like Odisha and West Bengal, the idol of the goddess is immersed in a river or a lake on the day of Vijaydashmi.

However, In the south, the festival is celebrated in honour of Maa Saraswati– Hindu Goddess. We worship the Goddess for knowledge and arts. On this day, people clean and worship their instruments of livelihood and seek Goddess Saraswati’s blessings. You will find a list of amazing south Indian recipes that you would love to try.

In Western India, especially in Gujarat, people observe fasts and worship the nine avatars of Goddess Durga for the nine days of Navratras leading to Dussehra or Vijayadashami.

How To Make Dahi Boondi:

Coming back to the recipe: As I mentioned earlier, I an advocate for introducing our culture and traditions to our new generation. Many believe that making a prasad recipe is no rocket science but ignore some small details in it. Hence I decided to share this recipe of sweet boondi prasad which is a popular prasad in the Northern part of our country. Prasad is made by mixing curd with sweet boondi.

Tips and suggestions

Furthermore, I am also sharing some important tips and suggestions for a perfect mouth-watering sweet boondi prasad recipe. Firstly, I used readymade boondi ladoos to make this recipe. You can use homemade ladoos or sweet boondi for this.

Secondly, make sure to use good quality and fresh boondi ladoos made with pure ghee. It will increase the aroma and the taste of Prasadam.

Finally, use thick curd or hung curd for the best results. I like to add a little camphor to it. I learned this trick in South India. They add a pinch whenever they make prasad which gives it an aromatic twist. However, this is totally optional and you may skip this.
