Sambar- Sambar is a spicy and tangy lentil and vegetable stew that is a staple in South Indian homes. Sharing my most sought-after sambar recipe with you all in this post. Serve it with dosa, idli, uttapam or vadas.

A SOUTHINDIAN LINTEL CURRY

sambar:-

 
 
South Indian cuisine is an all-time favourite in India…. kid love this and old people really relish it well 
light for digestion and yummy in taste 
 

Tuar dal / Yellow pigeon peas………………1 cup
Salt ………..as per taste
Turmeric……..1/2 tsp
 
For tadka ”tempering”:-
 
Oil……….2tbsp, red whole chilly…..2, rai…….1/2 tsp, Kari patta / curry leaves- 3 to4
 
Drumsticks-2
Potato-1   
Onion -2
Tomato puree-2tbsp
Tamarind pulp-2tbsp
Red chilly-1tsp , *sambar masala-2tsp,  asafetida / hing -1/4 tsp
 
Method:-
 
Wash tuar dal  properly in water, cook in a pressure cooker with salt and turmeric powder till done and keep aside
In a pan heat, oil add all tadka ingredients in it stir till crackling, now add chopped onion in it cook till light golden in colour, add tomato puree and all the masalas roast till oil separate add vegetables and mix well, add little water and cover with lid cook till vege turn little soft now add cooked dal in it and mix well, add tamarind paste and water as required serve hot with idli, dosa and vada….

* sambar masala is easily available in Indian stores. you can make it at home also.

Note:- I add little coconut and jaggery and also enhanced the  taste of sambhar
