Crumbled Cottage Cheese Curry || step by step paneer recipe

A very simple cottage cheese preparation. Paneer Bhurji can be used as a sandwich stuffing or for baking also. Additionally, it can be used as a side dish for lunch or dinner meals too. You may also serve it with any Indian bread.

I remember when my daughters were toddlers, I used to give them paneer bhurji sandwiches for their tiffin very often. My elder one was very picky with food. Though, paneer bhurji was a win-win every time for me.

Paneer Bhurji is a popular and delicious North Indian recipe made from crumbled cottage cheese (Indian Cottage Cheese). However, I make this crumbled paneer recipe in a typical Punjabi style. In this quick and simple vegetarian recipe, the crumbled homemade paneer (cottage cheese) is added to sautéed onions, tomatoes and spices for a satisfying hot dish.

It is best to have paneer bhurji hot with some bread, soft dinner rolls (pav) or Indian bread like roti or paratha. Sometimes, I make a paneer roll or paneer Kathi roll by using it for tiffins. In fact, I consider it as one of the best recipes for beginners to start with.

Paneer Bhurji – A Simple Paneer

Paneer bhurji is a popular North Indian dish made of Indian cottage cheese aka panner, herbs and spice powders. It is eaten with roti or paratha.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup paneer crumbled/ पनीर चूरा हुआ

  • 1 onion chopped/प्याज बारिक कटा

  • 2 tamato chopped/ टमाटर बारीक कटा हुआ

  • 1 green chili / हरी मिर्ची बारीक कटी

  • 1/2 bell pepper chopped /पीली मिर्च

  • 1 spoon Ginger garlic paste / अदरक और लहसुन का पेस्ट

  • Salt as per taste

  • 1/4 tsp Red chilli powder / लाल मिर्च पाउडर

  • 1 tsp coriander powder /धनिया पाउडर

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric Powder /हल्दी पाउडर

  • 1 tsp cumin seed /जीरा

  • 1/4 cup milk/ दूध

  • 1 Tbsp oil/ तेल

Directions

  • Chop onion, green chilli, coriander, ginger-garlic, yellow bell pepper and tomatoes and keep aside. Crumbled paneer and keep aside,
  • heat oil in a pan add jeera stir for a few min and add chopped onion & green chilli in it mix well till light golden in colour
  • crumbled paneer and mix well add tomatoes and all dry masalas, cook for some time and finish with chopped coriander. Use this as a filling for a crepe or eat it with any Indian bread
