Aloo Tikki Chaat with yoghurt and chutneys. Indian cuisine is incomplete without Indian street food and believes me these Indian chatkaras are so delicious that we can’t resist having them whenever we go out to the market. This tangy and spicy Aloo Tikki Chaat is one of the fav chaat dishes, where crispy Aloo Tikki’s are topped with a Chickpea Curry and Chutneys. It is popular street food in India no and is loved by many.
North India Special-
Aloo Tikki Chaat is basically a North Indian speciality that has become quite popular across the country. Along with aloo Tikki papri chaat, puchka or golgappa, matar ki chaat and chane ki chaat are few more delicacies that are equally famous and loved by almost every Indian. These hot crispy tikki’s are topped with curd, chole and delicious chutneys.
Chaat is something which has different tastes in different plates every individual likes this chaat in their own ways. The thumb rule is that chat is delicious when you make it your way. However, everyone has their own version of making this scrumptious chaat. Some people like to add curd, while some don’t. Some like to serve it with sev or beetroot juliennes or ginger juliennes or paneer cubes or anything else on top of the chaat. I like it just plain with chutneys.
Tips by the chef-
Hot and crispy Aloo Tikki, when served with some of the most delicious toppings such as tamarind chutney, green chutney & curd, and topped with finely chopped onions, pomegranate seeds, and various other aromatic spices, is the most flavourful dish you can ever have.
While cooking the Tikki, cook them on low heat to get a nice crispy texture on the top. Patience is the key to get nice hot crispy Tikki’s.
You can boil the potatoes the same day before and store them in the fridge so that there will be no moisture left while making the Tikki’s.
Do not compromise on Chutneys, they add flavour to the Chaat. You can avoid adding Chola and top it with just curd and chutneys as I like.
If you are adding yoghurt, whisk it smooth with a little sugar and then add on the Tikki’s. Also, chilled yoghurt tastes the best on hot crispy Tikki. Though some people don’t like yoghurt on Tikki and they prefer only chutneys.
